In video gaming, the HUD (heads-up display) is the method by which information is visually relayed to the player as part of a game's user interface.

It takes its name from the head-up displays used in modern aircraft.

The HUD is frequently used to simultaneously display several pieces of information including the main character's health, items, and an indication of game progression (such as score or level).

[edit] Location of HUD

The HUD is located in:

Version 1.0: dead island\DI\Data0.pak\Menu\Hud\HUD.xui folder.

Patch 1: dead island\DI\Data2.pak\Data\Menu\Hud (Note 1)

Patch 1.3: dead island\DI\Data3.pak\Data\Menu\Hud

  • Note1: The first patch included Data2.pak, which overrides some Data0.pak Files.

If you dont have a Data3.pak, but a Data2.pak (meaning you dont use Patch 1.3), look inside it for newer versions of exisiting files.

Data0.pak can be opened with any zip program like winrar.

HUD.xui can be opened with notepad.exe, set language to xml for best results.
