There and back again
From Dead Island Wiki
There are only 71 actual locations in the game. The Moresby Gas Station counts twice after the 1.1 patch. To get Moresby Gas Station to count twice, once a player has been to the Moresby Gas Station and it has counted once, quit to the dashboard, and then reload the game. The achievement tracker will have gone up by one location.
As of patch 1.3.0 on November 10, 2011, if a player has 72 locations found and still no achievement, after upgrading 1.3.0, load up the save with 72 locations found file and the player will get the achievement.
A player needs 57 locations before going to the prison:
- 11 resort locations
- 7 hotel locations
- 22 Moresby locations
- 1 City Hall location
- 4 Police Station locations
- 9 Jungle locations
- 3 Laboratory Map locations
There are 15 locations at the prison that can all be found by doing all of the quests. The prison is relatively linear, with no "hidden" side quests. Do all of the side and main quests the prisoners give and find every location in the prison.
Several of the below locations are listed as "Unmissable". This only assumes that YOU the player do the quests and complete the story. Do not let co-op partners run through quests without you. Missing one location will be a huge pain later when you have to check every location again.
Green on the map means the area has not been explored yet.
Moresby: when a player has gotten all of the locations in Moresby, there should be NO green fog of war left anywhere in the city, and the west and south coasts will not be green.
Jungle: There WILL still be quite a bit of green left on the Jungle map.
Resort: Some green on the Resort map.
The jungle and resort maps have much fewer locations, all of which are pretty straightforward.
