Vargass is a Dead Island survivor who is one of Afran's notable lieutenants. He is involved in the quest Death Wish as the subject of a bounty.

Vargass murdered Katie when he and the other soldiers were raiding River Village, after the town was devastated in the zombie attack, simply because she was "in his way". Her husband, Carter, seeks revenge, asking the hero to kill him.

Vargass tried to retreat with the rest of Afran's men, but was diverted by Matutero. He fled to Afran's Communication Center where he resides with other soldiers. However, the hero infiltrates the compound and is able to kill Vargass, bringing peace and justice to Carter and the rest of the village.

• Vargass' name is misspelled during Carter's dialogue as Vargas. His name is spelled correctly on the character's name display over his head and in the quest menu.
